About WeChat Status

WeChat Status is an independent monitoring tool that tracks the real-time connectivity of wechat.com and aggregates community-reported issues to help people quickly understand whether a problem they're experiencing with WeChat is a wider outage or something specific to their account, device, or network.

We built this site after noticing that most existing "is it down" tools rely on generic templates and boilerplate troubleshooting text that doesn't reflect how WeChat actually works. WeChat rarely has genuine global outages — most "down" reports are actually caused by regional restrictions, new-account verification locks, or network/firewall interference, and we wanted a resource that explains those specific causes clearly rather than repeating the same generic advice found everywhere else.

How Our Monitoring Works

  • Automated checks: Our system pings wechat.com every 5 minutes and records the response, building a historical picture of uptime and response times.
  • Community reports: Visitors can report whether they're experiencing issues, and we compare report volume against historical norms to flag genuine disruptions.
  • Combined status: We display an overall status by weighing both signals together, and we're transparent about the limitations of each (see our FAQ on the homepage).

WeChat Status is not affiliated with Tencent or WeChat. See our Disclaimer for details.
